The LGBTQ Literary Preserve mission is to preserve & promote LGBTQ literature & culture.
We believe LGBTQ literature should be made readily available to all and preserved for the future. A vast amount of LGBTQ literature is not available either because it's out of print and/or was never made available in digital form. We're in danger of losing a vast body of LGBTQ literature. Help us prevent this from happening.
A new digital archive is being established to provide access to LGBTQ literary works & preserve our heritage. We'll acquire and archive content.
Our goal is to acquire LGBTQ literature and place it into a new digital archive online; literature that otherwise might be permanently lost. You'll be able to read & discover literature directly on our site.
When available, we'll provide video and audio of LGBTQ writers. We'll be producing videos and podcasts featuring interviews with LGBTQ authors. The interviews will also be made available as PDF documents. Our aim is to provide one site where you can easily discover LGBTQ literature.
We'll add books whose copyright has expired. Where the copyright remains in effect, we'll acquire permission from the copyright owner, prior to inclusion in the archive. For all literature that is currently in print, in addition to our archive, we'll provide a direct link to make a purchase, and also links to libraries and ebook clubs, where the literature can be read.
An Anthology will be produced featuring LGBTQ authors. The Preserve will publish new books & sponsor book contests. Select out of print books will be published so that new audiences can discover great LGBTQ literature.
We have a dedicated team of volunteers working with us in several countries. If you would like to help, please contact us. The team is led by Jeff G. Peters. Jeff is a published writer (most recent: Gilbert & George: The Rock Stars of the Art World ) and filmmaker. Jeff is President of Anhinga Press ( www.anhinga.org). You can find Jeff on twitter @jgpesq and on Facebook www.facebook.com/jeff.g.peters.5
We're raising money to make the LGBTQ Literary Preserve a reality. The costs include purchase of Atiz book scanners (atiz.com), sophisticated web site design and hosting by The Grid ( https://thegrid.io/#23590), storage space and other costs associated with setting up and operating the archive. You can help us with this important project by making a contribution.
We'll be using the Grid to house the archive. The Grid is designed to grow and will allow us to provide a user friendly website. Check it out here: www.thegrid.io/#23590.com
The Grid harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to take everything you throw at it - videos, images, text, urls and more - and automatically shape them into a custom website unique to you. As your needs grow, it evolves with you, effortlessly adapting to your needs.
The Grid will allow us to provide a brilliant website that will be very easy to navigate, providing an easy user experience. It will be available later this year.
BookDrive Pro is the most powerful model of the successful BookDrive line of scanners. BookDrive solution solves typical problems found in overhead scanners: page curvature, damage to book spine, and low productivity (See www.atiz.com)
The BookDrive uses a different approach called a V-shaped solution. The combination of a V-shaped book cradle and a V-shaped platen holds the book open at a non-stressful 120 degree angle for scanning by two hi-speed, hi-resolution DSLR cameras.
BookDrive scanners are responsible for scanning over 3 million books and are currently being used by some of the most prominent academic libraries, universities and museums around the world.
If you're an author or publisher who would like to donate a book and provide permission to make it available on our site, send it to us at: 3551 Blairstone Road, Suite 105, Tallahassee, Florida 32301. If you have an ebook you would like to make available, please contact us.
If you're aware of LGBTQ literature that should be included in the archive, please mail it to us (2 copies, if available). We'll confirm the legal status and obtain the necessary rights clearance, prior to inclusion on the website.
Contribute to The LGBTQ Literary Preserve & help us protect & promote LGBTQ literature.
